The medieval town of Golubac,
was built on inaccessible rock above the river Danube, at the point
where the riverbed begins to narrow, thus facilitating monitoring of all
traffic across and along the Danube. It is supposed that it was built by
Hungarians, probably in the second half of the 13th century, to defend their
land on the right bank of the Danube
Srebrno Jezero
(Silver Lake) is situated 120 km from Belgrade, near Veliko Gradiste.
It is 14 km long and 300 meters wide.
National park Djerdap is the most beautiful national park
in the country with the oldest geological history in Europe. The longest
compost valley in Europe. The biggest and the oldest water breakthrough in
Europe where the Danube is the deepest and the narrowest and
the biggest European natural history and archeological museum outdoors,
with the oldest settlement from neolith times. The park with the most numerous historical
monuments from Roman times.
